on Long Beach Gives Day! Or Today!
We’re so excited to be included this year in Long Beach Gives, where we’re raising funds for NCJW HugPacks! Every dollar donated will be generously matched by the Jack and Binnie Berro Family, up to $10,000!! So take advantage of this chance to DOUBLE your donation!

HugPacks is our Section’s long-standing community service project helping children suddenly taken into the foster system through the Southern LA County Office of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Can you imagine what a child goes through when they’re unexpectedly removed from home with little or nothing to hold onto? To this day, we are the only organization in our area that makes this contribution. Year after year, we donate 600 packs annually for kids from kindergarten through high school that are filled with necessities such as hygiene and school items, a book of their own, and a comfort item or two. The need is great; our DCFS office had a caseload of 3,000 foster youth last year.

We need YOUR help to be able to meet this project’s rising costs. And we’d love to expand the numbers we are able to donate each year! Each pack, including the backpack and all items, costs $18.00. Help us continue this important work to show these children someone cares for them.

Testimonials
"Our social workers have come to know your association as a reliable community partner who supports the educational success and achievement of foster youth..."
"Knowing that the community is thinking of them and showing support makes them feel special and cared for in their time of difficulty."
"We are honored to consider the National Council of Jewish Women a community partner. There are no other associations or agencies that provide backpacks with supplies, so we highly value what you provide year after year. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable youth in our community."
