Your Love of Children is Needed to Help at Our Kindergarten Festivals

by Linda C. Fox, President

Can you believe … that it was the year 2004 when we at NCJW Long Beach in the person of Barbara Wolfe were invited by the Long Beach Unified School District to join in the creation of pre-Kindergarten school festivals that would provide parents and children with school readiness information for those children entering Kindergarten the following fall?  We are so proud of all the volunteers who have made it happen over the years, and NCJW Long Beach has been an integral part of the “K-Fests”  each and every year. In 2018 alone we signed in 444 families (a total of 1281 adults and children) and gave away 684 books and 401 backpacks!

Our NCJW volunteers may be asked to sign in families, provide important information for the day, (workshop schedules and maps of the campus)  or offer other support. These Festivals are an opportunity to get to know the different school neighborhoods, to be proud of the role NCJW plays, and of course, to have fun watching the excitement of these adorable pre-K children and their parents!

Here are the dates and designated schools for 2019. Come and enjoy a morning (and a little nosh included for worker bees, thanks to the impeccable service of our own Jeanne Halliday) and help make a difference in the lives of these youngsters. To volunteer for one or more of the dates below, email or call (657) 235-2511. And mark your calendars!
