For Goodness Cakes! Spread Love, Joy, and Frosting
by Baking Birthday Cakes for Foster Children
For Goodness Cakes® is a nonprofit organization that gives underprivileged youth within the foster care system the chance to have a birthday by matching volunteers to bake special cakes just for them.
For Goodness Cakes’ Mission is to give individual youth at least one special moment that is about them. By providing a child a treat, it gives them some much needed time to not feel the increasing pressure of their socioeconomic situation, but rather help nurture optimism and confidence at a critical age. What a wonderful and meaningful opportunity for our Section to get involved. Here’s how it works:
RECEIVE WISHES: For Goodness Cakes receives requests from non-profit agencies who work with at-risk youth
for orders of our cakes.
BAKE ALL THE CAKES: Volunteers choose the cakes they want to bake and deliver them to the agencies.
DELIVER HAPPINESS: Their most favorite part of the job –creating the biggest smiles ever.
For Goodness Cakes takes extra precautions to ensure food safety, especially during COVID-19, therefore requiring interested individuals to complete an on-line orientation and quiz. Once completed, you are accepted as part of their ‘Sprinkle Squad’ which allows you to self-assign making a cake according to YOUR schedule. They provide the address of the requesting agency with specified delivery date and time. Strict reinforcement of their requirements applies.
If you want to volunteer for the “Sprinkle Squad” visit the For Goodness Cakes website https://www.forgoodnesscakes.org/volunteer/. Once you have joined the “Sprinkle Squad,” please contact Bobbi Horowitz at (657) 235-2511 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
For some kids, birthdays are often overlooked. What a terrific way to make a child’s birthday special and make a huge difference!
